Hurricane Season Has Arrived

July 12, 2019 Filed in: Insurance Claims

Tropical storm Barry, the second named storm of the 2019 hurricane season, formed Thursday morning and is expected to hit the Louisiana coast as a Category 1 Hurricane early Saturday morning. Some areas could see up to 25 inches of rain and disastrous flooding as a result. The Mississippi River is expected to crest at 19 feet, just below the tops of the levees.

The storm, moving west-northwest at about 5 mph, has seen maximum sustained winds increasing from 50 to 60 mph and is likely to strengthen throughout the day. While 5 mph may seem insignificant, it is actually an unfortunate reporting as such slow movement will result in long durations of heavy rainfall and flood threats.

Sources predict as many as 12-14 named storms for 2019 hurricane season.MAS Claims Adjusting is up to date on all of the latest news regarding these storms, including Tropical Storm Barry, and is prepared to deploy its team whenever a storm makes landfall.
